Chemical and synthetic sprays are banned.
We remove weeds mechanically as a tradition, or even by hand. We protect beneficial organisms and keep harmful organisms at bay by sophisticated planting methods. For example, by placing plants around the edges of a field that are particularly attractive to beetles.
In order to avoid late blight in potatoes we dust them with rock flour which strengthens the plant and has a hygroscopic effect. We do not use artificial fertilisers. This may mean that our spinach harvest is smaller, but it has very low nitrate values.
Our carrots are grown in wind-exposed locations. This way the wind can literally sweep the rows clean. This is a natural way to prevent fungal attacks and pest infestations.
